On Sept 26, 2010, Prakash Ojha from Toronto, Canada will be participating in Toronto Waterfront Marathon, a 42.2 KM (26 miles) run, where 23,000 runner from 40+ different countries will be participating. Prakash will be donating all the proceeds raised from this event to NCEF. Prakash is excited and equally nervous about his first marathon but what keeps him motivated is the thought of opening doors of education to many children. Prakash has set a goal to raise $1,000, enough to sponsor 10 students for a year.

Prakash on his motivation behind the fundraising marathon:
"I always wanted to run a marathon but never acted upon it until I was motivated by the chance to use it for a good cause. NCEF has a special appeal to me because I always believed in the power of education. There is no single gift that has as much power to influence a children's future as education. It gives them opportunities in life that wouldn't be otherwise possible; helps them grow into responsible and informed citizens of the world which in turn makes world a better place.
There are too many children in this world who don't have a shot at life because they cannot afford to go to school, and in case of a poor country like Nepal the problem is even more acute. To think that $1000 that I hope to raise will put 10 kids through schooling for a year and a possibility of a better future makes me realize that while the situation remains desperate even a small step on our part can make a big difference, and it fills me with hope. "
