- Om Gnawali

A group of Nepalese students gathered at Stanford University on May 2,
2010 to publicize NCEF to the students and the local community. Om, an
NCEF volunteer, writes:

"Nepalese students got the opportunity to publicize NCEF during the event called "A Taste of Palo Alto". Many Stanford students and residents of Palo Alto and surrounding cities gathered on a bright Sunday afternoon for the event. Many local eateries showcased their food, and as attendees strolled along the open area sampling the food, they visited tables that highlighted some non-profit and student organizations. We setup a table with large printouts of our pamphlet and a stack of fliers. We passed out fliers and talked to individuals interested in NCEF. Many were interested in volunteer opportunities. Overall, we used the opportunity to spread the word about NCEF in the local community. We got together, spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon out in the sun, and hopefully generated enough interest about NCEF and its efforts so as to find some helping hands."

NCEF to Participate in ANA 2010

NCEF to participate in ANA 2010

The convention held each year on the weekend of the fourth of July by Association of Nepalis in The Americas (ANA)) sees the biggest concentration of Nepalis in North America.   This year, the convention will take place in Boston, MA, and is expected to be the biggest ANA convention till date.  NCEF believes that this would be a perfect setting to increase its visibility to a population that has not been as accessible before.

With help from volunteers, NCEF is setting up an information booth on July 3rd, Saturday, 2010 from 10 am till 8 pm with an aim to reach out to this wide diasporas of Nepalis and individuals interested in social causes in Nepal.  The floor will include several booths from other non-profit organizations involved in various projects in Nepal, as well as other commercial vendors displaying cultural artifacts. Various sporting and cultural events will also be taking place in the vicinity of the booth.

Several NCEF volunteers will be available at the booth to answer questions about NCEF, its history, its mission, its future goals and how individuals can be a part of the cause.  Informative material will also be available at the site, and for those interested in receiving regular correspondence about the on-goings of the organization, a sign-up sheet will also be available. Our objective is to educate and attract potential members, donors and supporters.

We urge our members and well-wishers to make this information session a success by spreading word about the event among their friends and families. If you are attending the ANA this year, please make sure to stop by the booth and support the team. You can learn about NCEF and find various ways to get involved with the organization.

We hope to see you there!
