Marathon Raises $1,200 for NCEF

Prakash Ojha participated in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon on September 26, 2010. He had set a goal of raising $1,000 for NCEF. Prakash completed the 26-mile run in 4 hours and 40 minutes. Prakash explained that he had always wanted to run the marathon, but the biggest motivation for him was the idea that his efforts would be able to open the doors of education to many children.

Over thirty individuals have generously contributed to Prakash’s efforts in order to raise money for

NCEF. So far, NCEF has been able to raise over $1,200. The contributions will help to put ten children

through school for one year. Prakash expressed that NCEF has always had a special appeal to him,

because he has always believed in the power of education. He feels that education is the best gift in

order to positively influence a child’s future.

What are Our Students Doing?

Dinesh lives in a dilapidated house along with his two older sisters. His father is deceased. The family is currently under dire financial conditions. Both of his sisters work as maids to support their family. Dinesh is currently attending Namuna Machindra Madhyamik Vidyalaya. He secured first position in the second term examination.
