Our annual year-end letter from NCEF CEO Omprakash Gnawali containing all the highlights, hard work and accomplishments of 2015
Omprakash Gnawali, CEO NCEF
December 28, 2015
Dear friends:
It is our pleasure to share with you the highlights of our work from 2015.
This year, we are proud to have reached places outside of the Kathmandu valley and to have continued supporting young girls who are often disadvantaged in their access to education. We are now providing financial assistance and regular visits to 62 students in 4 different locations in Nepal. Of these, 56 students are in locations outside of the Kathmandu valley and 63% of our students are girls.
As I’m sure you already know, Nepal suffered massive destruction of lives and infrastructure -- including schools -- due to the earthquakes of April and May 2015. Immediately after the earthquakes, NCEF mobilized its network in Nepal to first account for all the volunteers and students and then to assess their needs. Everyone in the NCEF family survived, but some students saw their homes destroyed. One of our supported schools, Bloom Nepal, was completely destroyed. Many of you contributed towards the US$ 4,000 fund to rebuild the school. Thank you!
Immediately after the earthquake, I personally visited locations in Nepal to get a better picture of the situation on the ground. Working together with other members of our organization, we created a plan to ensure that our students do not drop out of school due to the mid- to long-term effects of the earthquakes. We expect these kinds of needs to persist for several years and we remain ready to invite more students, especially those affected by the earthquake, to our family of NCEF students. I hope to report on these education-centered earthquake relief efforts in the upcoming months.
Due to the earthquakes, long-term shutdowns, and blockades, 2015 has been a challenging year for NCEF. Despite these challenges, our students and volunteers continue to thrive in their schools and communities. Your continued support not only enables our current students to pursue their dreams of becoming doctors, engineers, artists, scholars, and productive citizens, but also allows us to continue to invite more students to the NCEF family.
This holiday season, please consider sending the gift of education to these children in Nepal. You can donate online at http://www.nepalchildren.org/donation.html or send a check to:
Nepalese Children’s Education Fund
PO Box 380061
Cambridge, MA 02238-0061
USA
As long as you mail your check by December 31, 2015, it will count towards donations for tax year 2015. NCEF has no salaries or office expenses, so each child benefits directly from your donation.
Wishing you a good holiday season,
Omprakash Gnawali

From everyone here at NCEF we would like to wish all our donors, volunteers, students, and executives the happiest of holidays this season. It has been our great pleasure to share with you the successes and developments of 2015 with regards to all the hard work done by the NCEF community. Throughout the year, these newsletters have shared exactly the kind of wonderful opportunities made available to our students and their communities. Without the generosity of donors such as yourselves, this amazing work would not be possible.
On behalf of our students and the entire NCEF family, we wish you very happy holidays and a wonderful New Year. Thank you for all that you do!
