Bhumika
Gender: Female Age: 12 years Grade: 5 School: Gueshwori Bal Secondary School Kumaripati, Lalitpur Bhumika is a part of a large family with three siblings. With her mother dead, she is responsible for taking care of the family. Her father brings in a low income each month and isn't able to afford all his children so is planning on sending Bhumika back to their home work. Bhumika, however, wishes to attend school and is capable of doing well in school if given the economic support.
Dinesh
Gender: Male Age: 12 years Grade: 5 School: Namuna Machindra Madhyamik Vidyalaya Kumaripati, Lalitpur Dinesh lives in a dilapidated house along with his two older sisters. His father is deceased and his mother is mentally ill. The family is currently under dire financial conditions. Both of his sisters work as maids to support their family and education. Under such grim financial conditions, Dinesh’s uncle has been there to assist them financially to some extent. However, the financial condition of his uncle is not very sounds either and if Dinesh’s education is not supported by NCEF he might lose his privilege to attend school for higher education.
Dinesh
Gender: Male Age: 11 years Grade: 2 School: Namuna Machhirdra School Kumaripati, Lalitpur Dinesh's mother was abandoned by her husband six years ago. Working as a servant in an office, she earns about $28 per month with which to pay for rent and necessities for her two children. Until this year, Dinesh's grandmother helped to pay for his schooling, but her death last year left the family without recourse. NCEF will pay for Dinesh to continue his education.
Kopila
Gender: Female Age: 10 years Grade: 4 School: Srijanshil Secondary School Thapathali, Kathmandu Kopila lives with her mother and brother in an apartment close to school. After her father passed away, her mother has been supporting her education. As her mother needs to work to support her children’s education, Kopila has not received enough assistance at home for her studies. The financial aid from NCEF will help ease her economic burden and in turn will hopefully bring progress in her studies.
Lopsang
Gender: Male Age: 10 years Grade: 5 School: Annapurna Aawasiya Madhyamik Vidhyalaya Bagdol, Lalitpur Lopsang lives with his sister and parents in a temporary mud house. Since his family is not from the capital, his parents can only understand limited Nepali which brings a huge obstruction to get a job. In addition to both his parents being illiterate, Lopsang’s mom is deaf. Both of his parents work as laborers. He is pretty good at his studies but his poor health conditions forced him to remain absent from school for sometime in the past year. The financial aid from NCEF will be very useful to support Lopsang’s education and his family’s financial conditions.
Laxmi
Gender: Female Age: 8 years Grade: 3 School: Shree Min Nath Adarsha Siksha Sadan Mangal Bazar, Lagankhel Laxmi lives with her parents but due to her father’s irresponsibility toward the children, her mother has to take care of them. Laxmi’s mother sells groceries in the local market and also works as a maid. Although Laxmi is among the top 50% of her class, the poor financial condition of her family is affecting her studies.
Meera
Gender: Female Age: 18 years Grade: 12 School: NIMS College Lalitpur Meera is one of NCEF's post-SLC student being supported for the second. She lives with her brother and mother and not be able to complete her further studies if she was not supported by NCEF.
Pawan
Gender: Maale Age: 14 years Grade: 5 School: Pragati Siksha Sadan Lalitpur Unknown about the whereabouts of his father, Pawan lives with his mother who supports for her four children while bringing only a low income home each month. She can't afford to send Pawan to school, but Pawan, having a keen interest in school, wishes to continue his students and make a brighter future for himself.
Pramila
Gender: Female Age: 13 years Grade: 5 School: Pragati Sikshya Sadan Secondary School Lalitpur Pramila's father earns $28 per month as a driver, barely enough to feed a family of four. Pramila's parents cannot afford school supplies and were often unable to pay school fees. Teachers noticed that Pramila sometimes came to school hungry; once, she fainted during morning assembly because she had not eaten. Yet even though her parents are uneducated and extremely poor, Pramila was the top student in her class last year. Now supported by NCEF, Pramila is in the fourth grade and will continue to build her education and her hopes for a better future.
Sabina
Gender: Female Age: 10 years Grade: 7 School: Nexus International School Pepsicola Sabina has performed exceptionally well in her studies in the past year and secured a third position in her grade. She lives with her two siblings and her mother. Sabina’s mother is a single parent and it is extremely difficult for her to keep up with her family’s rising educational expenses. Assistance from NCEF will help Sabina move forward with her future studies.
Sagar
Gender: Male Age: 11 Years Grade: 4 School: Gueshwori Bal Secondary School Lalitpur, Patan Although both of his parents work, they bring a low income to support the family of four. Sagar is a very talented student and wishes to continue his studies. However, since his parents can't afford to send him to school, he is seeking economic support from NCEF.
Sushila
Gender: Female Age: NA Grade: 4 School: Annapurna English Boarding High School Lalitpur Sushila is an extremely diligent student who has performed well in her studies despite of her frail health conditions. Her father passed away leaving her mother behind to take care of two children. She is supported by a single mother who works as a maid locally.
